FAQs
What happens in an assessment?
You will have time to discuss what brings you to counselling, to ask any questions you may have and let us know your availability
How long is an assessment?
Usually an hour
When would my counselling sessions begin?
Following your assessment we look to match you with a counsellor. This process can sometimes take up to 3 months, so we ask for your patience while we look for the best match for your current needs. We take many factors into account, including your availability, as counselling is a weekly commitment
How long are weekly counselling sessions?
50 minutes
Is my session at the same time, on the same day, every week?
Yes
Can partner/spouse and I be seen together?
No, at present we only offer individual one-to-one counselling
How do I pay for assessment/sessions?
Via the website. Each session is paid on the day you attend
What happens if my personal circumstances change?
You are encouraged to discuss this with your counsellor, so any adjustments can be made if necessary. We would not want anybody to have to stop their counselling for purely financial reasons.
What happens if I have to cancel?
Cancelling with more than 24 hours’ notice there is no charge, however experience indicates that counselling works best with weekly attendance. Cancelling a session with less than 24 hours’ notice, we ask that you pay for the session.
How long does counselling last?
In agreement with your counsellor, as long as you need but no longer than is necessary.
Who can I contact if I have a query or concern?
Your counsellor in the first instance, or the administrator at info@rema.lst.ac.uk
Will I have the opportunity to give feedback on my experience?
After your counselling has come to a close, you will be invited to offer any feedback you may wish to share.
What happens if I need further counselling?
We ask that you take some time to reflect on your process before re-engaging with weekly sessions; at least 3 months is recommended.
